Who we are
SAFA began in 1989 in the kitchen of a mother who lost her only son to AIDS.
In 1990, South Arkansas Fights AIDS (SAFA) was created and became a 501 (c)(3) Non-profit organization in 1992. SAFA's mission and goal, has been and will continue to be, providing Direct Services to those in rural South Arkansas living with the physical, mental, social, and economic challenges of HIV/AIDS.
Working together
United Way of Union County, Union County Community Foundation, Community Foundation of North Louisiana, First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, Marrable Hill Church and Arkansas FoodBank are faithful contributors.
Our impact
Union County, where the office is locate, is in the Top 20 for poorest counties in Arkansas. SAFA has chosen the Emergency Assistance Program because the HIV/AIDS clients in this area are pretty much on their own in regards of assistance.
